ABSTRACT: The globalization is a process which is changing small local markets and which attracts small areas in the nodes of the global supply chains. The global need of cost efficient flow of goods speeds up the political and economic transition in Central and Eastern – European countries, changing the balances among the national economies. This situation requires a new evaluation of spatial structures in this part of Europe and the evaluation of their oligopoly position. Here is analysed the position and abilities of development for North Adriatic ports. Modeling the spatial competitiveness of the ports will be presented. MRP approach in frequency space, introduced by R.W. Grubbstroem and his Linkoeping school will be suggested for extension the supply chain model to the distribution part with ports as activity cells.
